At Twist Print we believe that making things simple adds value to business (by focusing on the customer rather than the company).
Today, we want to introduce the American acronym KISS: Keep it simply stupid, although not very politically correct, clearly indicates the hidden value of keeping things simple (and without sacrificing quality).
The KISS principle, initially associated with engineering design, indicates that most systems work if everything is kept simple; that is, simplicity should be a goal or principle, and unnecessary complexity should be avoided.
If we all prefer simple things, why are systems usually so complex?
To make it easier to understand, here's an example. Each time a new person arrives at the organization, it is suggested to add a new field in the procedure that generates more complexity in the systems and makes them more focused on the needs of managers or headquarters and less on the needs of customers.
Sometimes the simple solution that truly fixes the problem at its root is not evident and it is easier to fill ourselves with rules and procedures than to stop and analyze the hidden simplicity. In order to satisfy the demands of all parts of the company (operations, commercial, finance), products or systems are generated that, while satisfying the needs of each area, do not satisfy the needs of customers.
At Twist Print, we love simple things, we don't give way to complexity. If we don't know an automatic way to do something, we prefer not to do it at all; digitization only happens when there is automation, the opposite is pure data collection.
We are convinced that the best attribute of Twist is its simplicity, but we also know that it is not easy to keep things simple. Therefore, we are very clear about printers' objectives and problems, we are evaluating how each process works and we are in constant feedback with our customers to continue on the path that offers the simplest solutions.
